Home visits

Reasons For a Home Visit

Please try to come to the surgery whenever possible as home visits are for housebound patients and for the terminally ill. If you are able to attend a hospital appointment without the use of hospital transport you should be able to attend a GP appointment. The only exception that will be made is for a new illness that leaves you bedbound.

When Requesting A Home Visit

We have a duty of care to our patients to use resources appropriately, home visits are not always the most efficient use of resource and better standards of care can be provided in a surgery consultation due to the facilities, access to medical records and chaperones. GPs are required to consider home visits for medical reasons only. Our reception teams are not able to book home visits for convenience, lack of transportation or money or for any children, young people or adults who are mobile.

Requesting a home visit

If you believe that you need a home visit, please call your usual surgery before 10.30am. This allows us to plan the day and other patients appointments.
